With this motto in mind, multiple Group-winning Trainer Ricky Maingard, together with his daughter Diane Howell, has set up an exciting new syndicate called the Wolf Power Syndicate.
The name of the syndicate is in honour of the formidable Wolf Power who was trained by Ricky Maingard.
Wolf Power was a dominant force on the tracks during the early 80’s and to this day is considered one of the best milers South Africa has seen. He won 18 races including seven Grade 1’s (including two Queens Plates and a J&B Met). He also set four new course records. Champion jockey Jeff Lloyd holds the view that “Wolf Power is still by far the best horse I have ever ridden.” Wolf Power was a champion who won not only on the track, but the big grey horse also conquered the hearts of the racing public!
THE HORSES
The Syndicate currently has six 2-year-old horses and is leasing one 2-year-old. They were all purchased in 2023 and hand-picked by Ricky and arrived at the Milnerton yard in October 2023. They are:

The colour purple is associated with a variety of meanings, including wisdom, creativity, royalty, power, ambition, and luxury. It can also represent magic, extravagance, peace, pride, independence, and wealth.
The bright and vibrant colour orange bursts with youthfulness, energy, and happiness. It inspires creativity and uplifts people’s moods.
